Waling (Syangja), Feb 5: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Saturday said there was no alternative to going for the elections as soon as possible.
Addressing the concluding event of the 6th Waling Festival organised by the Waling Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he stressed the need for the country to pursue prosperity by holding all three levels of elections within the stipulated timeframe.
"Those political parties who earlier stood together to promulgate the constitution should come together again to save the country from the existing crisis," he said.
Regarding the Madhes issies, he viewed that the Madhes problems could be resolved through talks while urging Madhes-based political parties not to put forward conditions after conditions in the course of amending the constitution.
Also on the occasion, central member of main opposition CPN-UML and Industry Minister Som Prasad Pandey accused the government of going its way in the name of constitution amendment, instead of implementing the constitution.
The festival with the theme 'Our pride, our dignity: Waling festival our identity' had started on January 26.
